Niko is a quiet individual, speaking mostly when spoken to or if she eventually becomes bored enough to go into a conversation. She does not like hiding truths or lying, speaking plainly and bluntly, she isn’t one to coddle someone with words which can lead to her being abrasive. Niko also acts more as a lone wolf, tending to do things by herself and feeling the need to do things by herself for independence. In this she can be highly stubborn, not wanting any other’s help. This is also difficult for her because she has heavy trust issues with people in general and it is hard for her to come to terms and reach out to even begin to trust another, however, once done so, she will remain loyal unless proven otherwise.
She likes to view things with practicality, not overly religious and pitting things on miracles, she likes to see the reasoning behind all happenings instead of placing them on some higher power which can also result in her being cynical.
Likes: Morality | Strength | Courage | Horses | Money | Sun | Warmth | Coffee | Wind | Fine materials (weapons and armor) | Swimming(alone) |
Dislikes: Being emotionally weak | Cages | Stupidity | Lazy people | Abusive people | Ice | Being flirted with | Being abandoned | Father |

History: Being born the youngest in a simple farming family with four brothers, Niko became more tomboyish, partaking in more daring activities and being more self confident in her youth. Each year the children would help their parents with the year’s harvest, learning much about how to raise plants and animals. Niko enjoyed more in taking care of the animals they owned, mainly the horses. However, one year when Niko had just turned a teen, a Blight had hit the farm and the family fell into hardship and financial crisis. What was more odd about their situation was that it didn’t affect any of the other nearby farms. Niko’s father became bereft, falling into a steep depression and relied heavily on the bottle to find relief. But where turning to alcoholism made an outlet for him, that outlet unleashed violence unto the family. Verbal abuse had been the beginnings of it, but eventually it escalated to physical violence. The children’s mother was ashamed, unwilling to speak of the situation in the family to anyone, demanding silence and obedience from her children despite their neighbors and others questioning them in concern.

Niko did what she could where she could, oftentimes finding herself helping her siblings in their laborious work or finding jobs outside the farm with them to help support the family, only to have it to help fuel their father’s alcoholic problems as well. Tension ensued even as the their situation slowly became better over a few years. But to escape the tension of the home, Niko’s brothers left to join the Bratkovan military. A young teen, left alone to deal with the tension in the family and perform the work her father demanded of her, she became frustrated of the ordeal. From time to time, she and her father got into verbal arguments to the point he was driven to physical beatings. Niko had tried to defend herself, but she was no match for a fully grown man.

Not too long later, when their crop had a good harvest, her father wanted to sell the extra stock in Tusa for a good deal in the nearby desert city. The family prepared to go with a small caravan, but only he and Niko would go on the journey while Niko’s mother watched the farm in their absence.

Going towards Tusa was an exotic experience for the young girl, having always known the Bratkovan life and terrain, the desert seemed so harsh and beautiful at the same time. Her awe in the landscape and the culture was soon shattered when the caravan was attacked by bandits. During the chaos she was knocked off the cart, injured and her father left her with the others in the caravan in the sands to flee for their own safety with the bandits giving chase after the prize.

Alone, wounded and in a foreign place, Niko thought she would die right there and her body buried by the wind and sands. When she came to, she found herself laying on a bed within a tent, greeted by an older male: Karim Atassi, a mercenary from Tusa. It took some time, but he helped Niko to recover from her injuries as they made the journey to the desert city in hopes they will find her father there. One thing constantly nagged at Niko, but she dared to not ask him as to why he even bothered helping her. She had no money, no reason to profit from it and there was nothing practical, just moral choice that she could see in it. One day, she did ask his reason for helping her. The truth wasn’t what she had assumed it to be, Karim once had a family, a wife and a son who were lost to disease and as a parent, felt the need to help her.

Once Niko was strong enough, it was then that Karim asked her where her home and family were. Remembering how things were back home, she didn’t feel ready to return, liking the change of scenery and how she was treated with Karim, expressing it to him. He didn’t ask for too much out of her, things that anyone else could do. However that was to change since Karim had to take on another job in order to even sustain himself. Which meant she would need to be left alone.

Not wanting to be left behind once more, she asked Karim to help train her how to fight. Even though she knew that no amount of training would help her even be on a level to think about taking on a task, she wanted to prepare herself for the future. The man accepted her request and became her mentor. The only lapses in her training were when he needed to go out to do work to provide for them, but there eventually came a day when Karim began taking her to his jobs.

With Karim at her side, she felt she could do anything and her confidence grew. But he always warned her to the treachery that could be around any corner, even from that of a client. It was driven home when a client they were hired by had betrayed them when the situation became dire. All in order to preserve their own life in trade of theirs. And they were lucky enough to have made it out with their lives. This was not the only lesson Niko would learn in her days beginning as a mercenary. She already had reason not to trust people, and now she had even more reason not to.

Years passed as she worked as a mercenary and grew as an experienced fighter, taking jobs on her own here and there when she felt more confident in her own capabilities, and Karim was confident that she can take care of herself. Eventually, Niko moved out to live on her own, though she hardly visited her own home, delving herself more into work and visiting Karim from time to time, who had retired just last year.

-Niko can use throwing knives, however don’t expect her to be an insanely good shot and perform impossible feats.
-Niko has a code of conduct as a Mercenary and will assess a job before taking part in it.
-Niko does not hate the city she was born to, however, since she had become accustomed to Tusa and the life of a Mercenary, she is more drawn to it.
